Don't Watch TV while Eating

Writer's picture: Yoga of EatingYoga of Eating

It is estimated that Americans spend 78 minutes while secondary eating. Secondary eating is defined by the US Department of Agriculture as " Eating while engaged in another activity ". While watching TV, many of us tend to watch content that is highly stimulating including action, horror, drama, etc.

Depending on the content, we tend to feel and experience many emotions, many of them intense.

This can have a deep impact on our digestive system. While secondary eating, we may not tend to chew well or eat mindfully. It's best that we eat with family and friends or in silence to best enjoy the meal as well as chew each morsel till it becomes liquid before swallowing.

Any initiative towards the body is an act of self-love and the body surely responds to the same. Let's take initiatives towards better health one step at a time.
