Okra (Lady's finger) has a moistening unctous quality making it a great vegetable for balancing the dryness of the Vata* dosha. It's rich fiber and mucilaginous content binds to toxins, lubricates the large intestines, and aids with easy bowel movements thus being very helpful for aiding a Vata type of dry constipation. Cook with onions and spices such as ginger and cumin. NOTE : Okra is not recommended for people with a low digestive power and sluggish bowel movements.
