Ayurveda gives a lot of importance to exercise, so much so that exercise is one of the essential daily activities as mentioned and suggested by the classical Ayurvedic ancient texts. Not only does exercise make one feel light and enthusiastic, it also helps in building muscle tissue and keeps the body toned. Apart from boosting one's metabolism, regular exercise also helps in keeping the digestive system efficient by better absorption of nutrients and better elimination. Adequate exercise leads to a balance of the elements in the body thus helping the body be in a state of balance. Lack of exercise and a sedentary lifestyle cause imbalances which could lead to constipation, sluggish bowel movement etc.
