According to Ayurveda*, most diseases begin with malfunctioning of the digestive system including the development of 𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐱. Most acid reflux issues are initiated not by excess acid but by insufficient acid production . When digestion is impaired, the acids in the stomach become weak leading to food stagnation . Food that stays too long in the stomach tends to come up again towards the mouth. Imbalance in the 𝘒𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘢 𝘥𝘰𝘴𝘩𝘢 ( Earth and water element ) can also cause low metabolism and mucus obstruction leading to acid reflux. Factors such as gastritis, hypoaidity, hyperacidity, stress, bile reflux, pharmaceuticals etc can also lead to issues with Acid Reflux. Treatment should be focused on eliminating the root causes, restoring balance in the digestive system, redirecting food downwards, and reducing inflammation.
*Ayurveda is one of the oldest systems of traditional natural healing in the world. Also known as the sister of Yoga, it stresses deeply on nutrition and lifestyle for optimal health.
Ayurveda believes that there are three bio energies ie Vata ( Air and Ether Elements), Pitta ( Fire and Water ) and Kapha ( Earth and Water) within the body and their balance or imbalance determines the state of good or ill health .
